What a Week in Wrestling

Week in Wrestling

WWE RAW

RAW kicked off with a strange segment featuring the new faction led by Seth Rollins, alongside Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and the surprising addition of Big Bronson Reed. It started strong with Heyman on the mic, but quickly lost direction. It felt like they hit pause midway, and now we have to wait another week for any real explanation.

That said, the matches on RAW were excellent. The opening triple threat match between Penta, Chad Gable, and Dragon Lee was insane. It was high-flying chaos—Dragon Lee nearly launched himself from the ring into the front row! Penta picked up the win by pinning Gable.

As someone watching from the UK, RAW’s three-hour runtime is usually a grind. But this week’s episode was one of the best of the year. I’m hopeful this momentum keeps rolling into SummerSlam season. And with next week’s RAW featuring Stephanie Vaquer’s re-debut, things could get even more interesting.

NXT

This week’s NXT was unpredictable and, at times, unbelievable.

Ricky Saints vs. Ethan Page for the North American Championship was brutal and hard-hitting. Page narrowly secured the win to become the new champ. I wouldn’t be surprised if Saints heads to the main roster soon—rumor has it he could move up after Money in the Bank.

The build to Worlds Collide was strong throughout the night. I’m fully on board for that PLE.

Then came the shocker: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship. To everyone's disbelief—fans, commentators, even Mike Rome—Jacy Jayne pulled off the upset and won the title. Mouths were wide open across the arena and at home.

SmackDown

SmackDown opened with a strong segment featuring Bianca Belair and Naomi, laying the groundwork for what looks to be a summer-long rivalry. Naomi went on to win her MITB qualifier against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax.

Andrade also qualified for Money in the Bank, defeating Carmelo Hayes and Jacob Fatu. Fatu was distracted by interference from Jacob Cobb and Solo Sikoa, which left Andrade free to pin Hayes for the win.

Throughout the show, the hype for Worlds Collide and Money in the Bank kept building.

The show ended on a high note with a star-studded segment featuring Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, John Cena, and Logan Paul. The line of the night came during a staredown between Paul and Cena. Cody stepped in and delivered the zinger:
“Hey, hey! What are you guys arguing about? Where are you headed? Are you going to go back there and polish his Peacemaker?”

AEW

AEW delivered an epic Double or Nothing event. Anarchy in the Arena stole the show—absolute mayhem with nonstop spots, music blaring, an ambulance scene, and just pure wrestling chaos at its best.

Looking ahead to ALL IN: Texas, the card is already heating up with two title matches announced:

  • “Timeless” Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Moné

  • Jon Moxley vs. “Hangman” Adam Page

This pay-per-view is shaping up to be something special.

TNA

The biggest shock from NXT Battleground was Trick Williams defeating Joe Hendry—with the TNA President watching from the front row! This moment was a huge surprise and could signal a very exciting chapter for TNA, especially with the ongoing WWE partnership.

On Impact, we witnessed a bit of history with the father-daughter tag team of Santino and Jordynne Grace. Unfortunately, they lost—seemingly due to backstage politics—but it was still a cool, memorable moment.

These past few weeks have been absolutely wild, and as a pro wrestling fan, I genuinely believe this could be one of the best years we’ve ever had. AEW, TNA, NJPW, WWE—so much great stuff happening, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
